Neurohaven was created by Dr Alan Cross, a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Adult ADHD. Drawing on both extensive clinical experience and his own lived experience of ADHD, Dr Cross understands that searching for clear information, credible guidance and the right kind of support can too often feel confusing, overwhelming or impersonal.
Many people reach the point of looking into ADHD, autism or mental health after years of feeling different, exhausted, misunderstood or unable to make sense of recurring difficulties with attention, organisation, emotions, relationships, work, study or everyday life. Neurohaven was created in recognition of this experience: as a place where people can begin to understand what may be happening, explore reliable information, and feel less alone in the process.
Neurohaven is intended to be more than a clinical website. It is a practical, inclusive and creative space for people exploring ADHD, autism, neurodivergence and wider mental-health concerns. It brings together clinically informed resources, accessible explanations, advocacy, current developments in ADHD care, culture, creativity and emerging technology.
The site is designed for people at different stages of their journey. Some visitors may be beginning to question whether ADHD or another neurodevelopmental difference could help explain longstanding experiences. Others may already have a diagnosis and be looking for clearer information about treatment, medication, adjustment, work, relationships, parenting or everyday coping strategies. Neurohaven also aims to be useful for family members, partners, friends, employers, educators and professionals who want to develop a better understanding of neurodivergence and mental health.
Its central purpose is simple: to make knowledge more accessible, challenge misunderstanding, reduce stigma and help people find a clearer way forward. The site recognises that neurodivergence is not defined only by difficulty or diagnosis. It can also involve difference, creativity, intensity, resilience, insight and alternative ways of experiencing the world. At the same time, it acknowledges the very real challenges that many people face when trying to access assessment, treatment, support and understanding.
Neurohaven provides information on Adult ADHD and related areas of mental health, including the assessment process, treatment options, medication, emotional regulation, executive functioning, co-occurring conditions and practical routes to support. It also provides guidance for people considering NHS, Right to Choose and private pathways, helping visitors better understand the options that may be available to them.
For those seeking a formal diagnosis, private Adult ADHD assessments with Dr Cross can be booked through the booking page. These assessments are separate from Neurohaven’s wider educational and community resources, which are intended to support informed decision-making and provide useful guidance for anyone exploring ADHD and neurodivergence.
Neurohaven is ultimately intended to be a resource people can return to: whether they are looking for an assessment, trying to understand their own experiences, supporting someone close to them, seeking practical information, or simply wanting a more thoughtful and human perspective on ADHD, autism and mental health.
